Our Story
Our journey with highlands started when we purchased 190 acres in Thomson Brook, I had long had a love for highland cattle for their shaggy coats, impressive horns, and gentle nature and I couldn't wait to purchase one. We now have 9 breeding cows, 6 young heifers and our breed sire Jacobite Dubh of Bairnsley.
On our breeding journey we have come to appreciate quality cattle, to us this means functional cows with good structure, good breeding characteristics and a docile temperament.
We try to handle our cattle as much as possible and use a gentle approach not fear when we work with them, most now enjoy being brushed, washed and hand feed.
To increase our numbers of quality breeding cows in 2023 we embarked on a embryo program and purchased fertilised embryos, these were implanted into our black Angus which are perfect surrogates due to their superior fertility and their exceptional maternal abilities. We will continue with our embryo transfer program in Winter 2025 with the hope to introduce more exceptional Highland genetics into WA.
When we have spare time we enjoy showing and displaying our cattle at local events and agricultural shows including Harvey, Brunswick & Warren and displaying at local events such as the Donnybrook Apple Festival.
Highlands are perfect pets for lifestyle properties and larger farms alike due to their ability to forage and convert overgrowth other cattle wouldn't touch. They have come a long way since being classified as rare up until 2017 with the Australian Rare Breeds Trust to now being in short supply due to their popularity Australia wide.
Scottish Highlands are a unique breed that leave a lasting impression, we can guarantee when you meet them you will want to take one home!
